Environment Policy

Given the scale of our operations, we are extremely mindful of our impact on the environment and invest a great deal of money and effort into ensuring that our operations are environmentally sustainable.

Planting a tree in Grandpass factoryUnilever’s Grandpass Factory is a complex manufacturing site with multiple production plants and a total annual capacity of about 80,000 metric tons.

Unilever Sri Lanka is committed to meet the needs of their internal/external customers and consumers, in an environmentally sound and sustainable manner to prevent pollution through continual improvement in products and operations for a greener environment. Accordingly Unilever Sri Lanka will:

–Comply with all relevant national legislations and global Unilever standards on environmental protection.

–Set our standards to monitor our products, processes, services, operations and its levels of environmental impact and review them periodically.

–Design and operate our plant & equipment in order to minimise discharges to surface water bodies in the vicinity and harmful emissions to the atmosphere.

–Conserve energy, reduce waste and explore opportunities for re-use and re-cycling.

–Provide training and support to all individuals working for the organisation and make them aware of company’s environmental policy and their role in it.

–Disseminate best practices to promote environmental care through government agencies and other interested parties.
